Ukulele Poem — The Fun, Happy Instrument Everyone Should Play
When you’re feeling bored with your guitar, and the keyboard’s just too hard,
there’s another instrument that you could play —
You only need to learn four strings,
a wealth of music it can bring.
Your fingers will soon be dancing like a flea.
And if you need to get away, just close your eyes and you could be,
beside the sea at Waikiki. Sitting on the sand, ukulele in your hands,
creating a world of joyous freedom.
Imagine yourself, the Nineteen-Twenties, at the shows, the wild parties,
ready for an impromptu bawdy tune. Playing four-string jazz
your syncopated rhythms will soon have them swinging ‘round the room.
And if you want the secret of the Uke’s endearment, just look
at the smiles as you play. Have some fun, pick up and strum,
and people will laugh, sing and sway.
So head down to the music store and buy not one, but four,
and give the other three away.
For the world would be a better place, with a smile upon every face —
If everybody played the ukulele
If everybody played the ukulele
:)
